From Inside the Mirror

We both want certain things
That are certainly different.
The ideas this brings
Are an inlet
To a reservoir
Overflowing with innocence.
Though,
being away from you
Is not what I wanted
To do,
I am,
and we know
That we don’t know
Where this will go.
Time,
these days,
Feels slow.
Finding ways
To talk to you,
Have started to fade
And go.

Things are feeling
Back to the norm,
Leaves turn over,
Back,
after the storm.
Nothing sounds torn
If constant smiles
Escape the lips and
Engage the forlorn.
Through their wants
and needs,
People love
And together are sworn.

Like birds of a fir,
Rooted,
Like a tree,
My feelings
For you
Have been,
Even when
I ask you
To let me be.
I still need you,
And I need the
Space and time
To let me be me.
This is something that I see
As a necessity for me.
Into the future,
I cannot see.
I wanted to hunt a rabbit;
But not for luxury.
Not for the luck,
And not
Just to do
What rabbits do,
Which is…

Fuck
A duck,
I should have kept the foot!
Maybe the vet,
Could have a look,
If the wabbit bites,
She might tally
Some leucocytes.
What a weird word
To come-out with,
right?!?
So very, very
Queer,
That it must be pulled,
A dictionary word,
From your eyes’ ear.
Sounds out of focus,
Seems I’ve lost my…
Hocus Pokus!
It is not
the season
of the locus. Though,
Biblical algorithms
Seem actively infecting
Many a nation
And station
And camp.
Many families argue,
But not you!
I seem to equate
Something I’ve always wanted
With you.
Selfish are my advances;
I need to increase my chances
To remain happy-
The choice
That has strapped me
in
to this shoebox of memories.
Like the Beatles’ song,
“Let it Be,”
I used to come to you
In times of trouble.
These days,
Though,
In most ways,
You know,
all I come home to,
Is me.

Still, strapped into this planet,
I now understand
What that line
In that song
meant,
Where he says,
“Dammit, Janet!…
I love you!!”
Frustrated that he
Cannot have her,
Just as time
And space
Seem to put a damper
On this relationship,
That really shouldn’t stay
In the clothes hamper.
The way
It seems
To stay.
I try to do and say,
What I think
Will surf me
to the welcoming wave
That swims across your eyes.
And too, too way too hard
I try;
So again,
Away you scamper,
Running,
Like the innocent bunny.
What I want,
Always,
I cannot get.
Everywhere I look,
I have faith
That I just might find…
I just Might find,…

I’ll tell you the truth
From what I observe.
From off the banOnna boat
I jump,
And I am stumped
to learn,
And search
And find,
Something I feel
Is real
To you.
It does not matter
what you do;
You remain
My Treasure.
So I do not bother
To measure,
Because there is no scale
For the pleasure.
And on every lip I’ve kissed,
And from every ship
I’ve served,
I’ve tasted
what I want
And for what I yearn.
Proved by the pudding,
I find it absurd
That no matter how hard I try
In this lifetime,
I earn many things,
But I only seem
to get
what I deserve.

Certainly, I want that.
Or do I?
Seems I’d rather have
What I want.
But this is no restaurant.
What you order
Isn’t always
what you are served.
How you react to the waitress
Proves one’s character,
I have learned.
Even if the steak is burned,
The waitress
Is not the tool which
Caused the cook
To add too many sticks
To the fire.
The waitress could be a liar,
But funny,
This steak
tastes like Bunny!
Where is this relationship at?…
Is it soft,
Like in the noodle
In the soup called, “Wonton”
At a Chinese place?…
Seemingly pork,
But from your fork
All you taste is cat!
Grosses you out
Like the ass that a cat licks.
Tastes no different
From chopsticks.

I know you don’t like cats.
That’s ok,
As long as you tolerate
My cat, by the way.
And sushi
Is not for me.
But I’ll take you
To
A sushi place,
Just to see that smile
That flows across your face.
Down the road,
I guess,
I’ll keep writing you letters.
Seems everytime
I write one,
As a man,
I grow
and become better.
“Don’t Let her get away!”
I listened to my mother say.
I tell her,
“But she hops
And stops
Like a deer in the headlights,
Because she fears
That this is not right
For her;”
Not yet.

Oh, how I want her.
Though,
Do I deserve her?…
In the end,
I guess,
One must wait
and see
what I get.
And the moment
It became about me,
Was the moment
She began to flee.
Sometimes I never learn.
Foolishly falling in love,
My steak seems to burn.
Shall it affect my tip?
Naw,
I wanna see
the waitress smile,
That makes my attempts
All worth it.
Looking across from me,
I would be so glad,
To see
You- sitting with me.
I certainly want that.
And what I need,…
From inside the mirror,
You will see.
