Emotion: the Hinderance of the Soul

When an intellectual conversation dissolves into a self-loathing proclamation…

“The Answer,” they seek cannot materialize. Instead, the, “investigation,” becomes a self-exploration, describing the whole of humanity, fueled by pent-up emotion (which they want to share,) consequently being extinguished by the arrogant affect of being the observer attempting to objectively observe itself.
As a picture of a pencil cannot draw itself, the human attempting to reconcile with its own cognitive dissonance by way of cognition is the same as the ocean attempting to dry itself off by splashing around!

Bearing Witness

You Cannot Witness Yourself.

Of a man who chooses not to see the light, neither all the books in the world may enlighten him; and for a man who sees the light, a single word is too much!
As we are surrounded by (and ruled by,) self-deceiving people, the only recompense is to constantly and instantly forgive them.

I saw this movie when I was 23 and thought, “Man, what a lunatic!”

I saw it at 33 and thought, “I mean, I guess he might have a point in there somewhere, but still – that’s insane.”

At 43, it became “Well, ok. I kind of get it, now. A bit extreme, but I get it.”

Cold water hardens wax
to form shape.

A shadow is cast,
from a candle’s light,
flickering in a fleeting moment.

Without a Candle,
Marylin would have never seen
the wind blow.
Without darkness,
the moon would not wax.

Dark as her sudden silence seemed,
and as remarkable as JFK’s birthday, song’s tease,
the wick of the candle is sometimes trimmed away.
