Double Dipping

“Drink water from your own cistern,…”

“For the lips of the adulterous woman
drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil;
but in the end she is bitter as gall,
sharp as a double-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death;
her steps lead straight to the grave.
She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.”

Clothe Yourself Thusly

“since as members of one body
you were called to peace. “

“…clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bear with each other and forgive one another
if any of you has a grievance against someone.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body
you were called to peace.
And be thankful.
Let the message of Christ
dwell among you richly
as you teach and admonish one another
with all wisdom
through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit,
singing to God with gratitude in your hearts…”

COLLOSIANS 3:12-17

The Archer’s Bow

“Because of the Lord’s anger she will not be inhabited
    but will be completely desolate.
All who pass Babylon will be appalled;
    they will scoff because of all her wounds.
 ‘Take up your positions around Babylon,
    all you who draw the bow.
Shoot at her! Spare no arrows,
    for she has sinned against the Lord.
Shout against her on every side!
    She surrenders, her towers fall,
    her walls are torn down.
Since this is the vengeance of the Lord,
    take vengeance on her;
    do to her as she has done to others.
 Cut off from Babylon the sower,
    and the reaper with his sickle at harvest.
Because of the sword of the oppressor
    let everyone return to their own people,
    let everyone flee to their own land.'”

JERIMIAH 50:13-16

Why Pay the Court?

“Listen, my dear brothers and sisters:
Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?

But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you?
Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?

JAMES 2:5-6

God Chose Foolishness.

“But God chose the foolish things of the earth
to shame the wise;
God chose the weak things of the world
to shame the strong.”

For the message of the cross
is flashness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved,
it is the power of God.
For it is written:
‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent
I will frustrate.’

Encampment

“…soldiers will be silenced in that day…”

“Summon archers against Babylon,
    all those who draw the bow.
Encamp all around her;
    let no one escape.
Repay her for her deeds;
    do to her as she has done.

Therefore, her young men will fall in the streets;
    all her soldiers will be silenced in that day,”

JERIMIAH 50:29-30

Spare No Arrows

“Because of the Lord’s anger she will not be inhabited

You Are Safe With Me

“But one son of Ahimelek
son of Ahitub, named Abiathar,
escaped and fled to join David.
 He told David that Saul had killed the priests…
 Then David said to Abiathar,
“That day, when Doeg the Edomite was there,
I knew he would be sure to tell Saul.
I am responsible
for the death of your whole family.
 Stay with me; don’t be afraid.

The man who wants to kill you is trying to kill me too.
You will be safe with me.'”

Hear My Voice

the wheel of a cart rolled over

“The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim,
    he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon—
to do his work, his strange work,
    and perform his task, his alien task.
22 Now stop your mocking,

    of the destruction decreed against the whole land.

Wickedness

“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends
and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.
2 Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions.
3 When wickedness comes, so does contempt,
and with shame comes reproach.
4 The words of the mouth are deep waters,
but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.
5 It is not good to be partial to the wicked
and so deprive the innocent of justice.
6 The lips of fools bring them strife,
and their mouths invite a beating.
7 The mouths of fools are their undoing,
and their lips are a snare to their very lives.
8 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.”

PROVERBS 18:1-8

What Displeases God

“There are six things the Lord hates,
    seven that are detestable to him:
 haughty eyes,
        a lying tongue,
        hands that shed innocent blood,
 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
        feet that are quick to rush into evil,
  a false witness who pours out lies
        and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.”

PROVERBS 6:16-19

Delayed Gratification

“May my lips overflow with praise,
    for you teach me your decrees.
May my tongue sing of your word,
    for all your commands are righteous.
May your hand be ready to help me,
    for I have chosen your precepts.”

EZEKIEL 22:25-30

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”

“The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.”

A Flattering Mouth Works Ruin.

“Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears
    is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own.
18 Like a maniac shooting
    flaming arrows of death
19 is one who deceives their neighbor
    and says, “I was only joking!”

Sober Judgement

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Part of the Dough

“If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.
If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.”

ROMANS 11: 16-18

1 Samuel 25:4-44

While David was in the wilderness, he heard that Nabal was shearing sheep.

So he sent ten young men and said to them, “Go up to Nabal at Carmel and greet him in my name.

Say to him: ‘Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!’

The Answer Pits Itself In The Apple.

“…If you ask for Wisdom,
God’s words are Silence…”

If you ask for strength,

He will give it to you by weakening you.
If you ask for guidance,

His guidance is usually wrought through confusion.
{DISCHORD}

If you ask for Wisdom,
His words are Silence.

Light

“In him was life;
and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness;
and the darkness
comprehend it not.
There was a man sent…whose name was, ‘John.’
The same came for a witness
to bear witness of the light,…

He was not that light,
but was sent to bear witness of that light.

That was the true light,
that lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

JOHN 1:4-9

Hearing Is Believing

The sense of hearing
beckons
the curiosity of the soul.

“Just reading it isn’t enough; there is something about hearing The Word that does something for the Spiritual part of your mind.”

Begin Your Work

and the Lord be with you!

“You have many workers:
stonecutters,
masons
and carpenters,
as well as those skilled in every kind of work
in gold
and silver,
bronze
and iron—
craftsmen beyond number.
Now begin the work,
and the Lord be with you.”

1 Chronicles 22:15-16

Pray In Silence

 But when you pray,
go into your room,
close the door and pray to your Father,
who is unseen.
Then your Father,
who sees what is done in secret,
will reward you.
And when you pray,
do not keep on babbling like pagans,
for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
 Do not be like them,
for your Father knows what you need
before you ask him.”

MATTHEW 6:6-8

Faith and Deeds

“faith…if it is not accompanied by action,
is dead.”

What good is it,
my brothers and sisters,
if someone claims to have faith
but has no deeds?
Can such faith save them?
Suppose a brother or a sister is without
clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to them,
“Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,”
but does nothing about their physical needs,
what good is it?
In the same way,
faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action,
is dead.

JAMES 2:14-17

JAMES 1:2-4

“Let perseverance finish her work so you may be mature and complete.”

Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

ISAIAH 65:1-5

Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure?

“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said,
‘Here am I,
here am I’.
All day long,
I have held my hands to
an obstinate people,
who walk in ways not good,
pursuing their own imaginations-
people who continually provoke me to my very face,
offering sacrifices in gardens
and burning incense
on alters of brick;
who sit among the graves
and spend their nights keeping secret vigil,
who eat the flesh of pigs
and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;
who say, ‘Keep away;
don’t come near me.
I am too sacred for you!
Such people are smoke in my nostrils,
a fire that keeps burning all day.”

ROMANS 12:14-18

“Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse.15
Rejoice with those who rejoice;
mourn with those who mourn.
16 Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud,
but be willing to associate with people of low position.
Do not be conceited.17
Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18
If it is possible,
as far as it depends on you,
live at peace with everyone.”

Paul

1st Samuel 23 : 22-23

“Go and get more information. Find out where David usually goes and who has seen him there. They tell me he is very crafty. 23 Find out about all the hiding places he uses and come back to me with definite information. Then I will go with you; if he is in the area, I will track him down among all the clans of Judah.”

Zohar Quote

“… we will teach them how;
Instruct them how the soul of man becomes…”

“Though too weak to tread the ways of truth

This age falls back to old idolatry,

Though men return to servitude a fact

As the tide ebbs, to ignominy and shame

By nations sink together, we shall still

Find solace–knowing what we have learned to know

Rich in true happiness, if allowed to be

Faithful alike in forwarding a day

Of greater Light, joint laborers in

When Desire Gives Birth to Sin

 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.”
For God cannot be tempted by evil,
nor does he tempt anyone;
but each person is tempted
when they are dragged away by their own evil desire
and enticed.
Then, after desire has conceived,
it gives birth to sin;
and sin,
when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

JAMES 1:13-15

Cart Ropes

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

Woe to those who are wise to their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

Woe to those who acquit the guilty for a bribe but deny justice to the innocent.”
